He then retired to his first assignment, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church of Enid, where he remained active in ministry. On April 6, 2004, Flusche was honored by Archdiocesan Council of Priest and Archbishop Beltran with the Father Stanley Rother "Good and Faithful Shepherd Award". Father Flusche was a voracious reader, gourmet cook, master gardener and world traveler. He especially enjoyed his travels to Europe as well as visiting the wine country in California. If anyone needed expertise on a good wine, they only needed to ask Father. He will be remembered for his fantastic meals that he loved to share with family and friends. His interest in gardening had a big impact on all the parishes that he served as he always left them landscaped beautifully. Father was a kind and gentle soul who touched so many lives with compassion and kindness. He will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved him. He is survived by six sisters, Marie Barnes and husband Robert, Loretta Bogie, and Eileen Williams and husband Bob, all of Okla. City Mildred Hren and husband John of Indianapolis, IN, Annette Snyder of Oracle, AZ, and Doris Atkinson and husband Richard of Pittsburg, KS and nieces and nephews.
